Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma from the department of English literature. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general correspondent for NBC News two year later. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel at 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell covered in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and arms control. She traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times to summits and debate topics including and the Iran Contra scandal.
